Miy project; Micro Bead Romantic Lamps.
Micro Beads add glittering effect to lamps. These simple and easy design
accents can be used on many household items, in any conceivable pattern.
Hands-on time: Less than 1 hour.

Project cost: Under $15.00

Materials & tools:

• Candle holders with glass lamp shades (paper shades are fine, too)
• Newspapers or a sheet of paper
• Fine-grit sandpaper and tack cloth
• Acrylic silver paint to paint the base of the holders, if needed
• Empty plastic container
• Micro Beedz by Art Accentz (numerous colors are available; I used clear)
• Terrifically Tacky Tape, 6-mm width
• Terrifically Tacky Tape sheet (to create a design)
• Pencil
• Drawing or clip art
• Scissors
• Measuring tape
• Decorative crystal beaded fringe (sold by the metre or in packages)

(Materials for this project are available at arts and craft stores).

Gorgeous home accessories needn't cost huge sums of money; they can be
created with basic materials, skills and imagination. Simply Eiffel Tower motifs,
for a little international flair..are applied onto plain lamps.

Votive lamps with frosted glass shades can be revived with Micro Beedz and
cascading crystal beaded fringe accents, making the lamps perfect to light up
romantic bedroom decor. The soft candlelight will make them glitter and glow.

Micro Beedz, or holeless beads, are minuscule glass or metallic marbles.
They are easy to apply and cling instantly to Terrifically Tacky Tape. They are
available in many colors and can be used on various surfaces, from wood and
glass to metal and plastics.

Terrifically Tacky Tape is a double-faced adhesive. It's my favorite type of
double-sided tape because it is strong, clear, nontoxic and heat resistant. It is
also extremely practical, since it can be used on a multitude of surfaces for
different purposes.

Cover your work area with newspapers. Make sure the glass lamp shades are
clean and free of grease. Wash them with soapy water and towel dry. If the
candle-holder bases are dull or weathered, lightly sand and repaint them first.

Let dry according to the type of paint you applied. Draw or trace a clip art
design (I used a basic Eiffel Tower motif, you can use any simple shapes, or
even basic geometric shapes) on the backing of the Terrifically Tacky Tape
sheet, and cut around it with scissors. Peel one side and apply the cut-out
directly onto the lamp shade. Press it firmly into place for an extra-strong hold
and peel the backing paper. Repeat steps to apply any additional designs to
the lamp shade.

Before applying the Micro Beedz, hold the shade over a plastic container (in
order to recover surplus beads). Sprinkle the beads over your design, and
pat them down with your hand. Repeat application as needed to fill in any
gaps. Put the surplus beads back in their original container.

Measure the lower circumference of the lamp shade and cut a piece
ofTerrifically Tacky Tape of the same length. Apply the tape around the lower
edge of the shade, press it firmly into place, then peel away the red backing.

Cut a length of crystal beaded fringe one centimeter longer than the length of
the tape (to allow for overlap). Apply the fringe directly over the tape, pulling
the fringe a little to make it snug while working your way around the edge of
the lamp shade. Fold back the end to tuck it in and overlap on top of the
starting point.

Variations:
Both Micro Beedz and Terrifically Tacky Tape can be used to decorate
numerous items around your home, such as lamp shades, picture frames,
vases, sheer curtains, decorative boxes and pillar candles. And of course,
they can be used for embellishing scrapbook pages.

Tacky Tape sheets allow you to create your own designs, but they also come
with precut shapes like circles, flowers, hearts and letters, to make it even
easier to use.
