boys, they are also very creative
in many ways. I'm really proud of
them both. Like my mother I have
been teaching them without calling
it school, its just life!

As a mother my favorite gifts to receive on Mother's Day has always been the gifts my children made with love,
because they have put thought and the hearts in their creations.
Plus anything with flowers or photos is always a hit with moms.
Happy Mother's Day to my mother
~ My Mother, my teacher, my inspiration ~

My mother (Nichole) is an artist and has inspired me since I was a little girl.
As far as I can remember my mother had always made wonderful things because she love too. I am the middle of
five children. I was born im Montreal, we also lived in Ottawa. When we where young children she designed and
made beautiful dresses and gowns for famous Montreal singers and entertainers. I would watch her make magic.
She also make stunning wall tapestries and even died her own wool to get the exact colours she wanted. She wrote
a book on it, which was published by Les Editions de L'homme. I loved going to her shows and exhibitions. In the 70’
s we would spend the summers at our farm house. My mother had a NO TV rule in the summers, we had farm
chores and we would make things. She was our arts & craft teacher. Every day we did something different, from
peace love candles, drawings, jewelry, cloths etc. This had a big impact on my life and career direction.  

My mother use to dress my sister and I, exactly the same like twins for quite a few years, because we where not
even a year apart. Then I got tired of it and told my mother I wanted my own cloths and style. My mother would often
make our cloths and I would tell her exactly what I wanted. She then showed me how to make my own cloths. I
started designing at a very young age. I was then unstoppable, in high school I would start trends. I would take my
fathers shirts, cut the collars off, put ruffles and pull strings on the sleeves. I had a lot of fun with my creations. I
loved making things so much that I then went on to study fashion designing and merchandising.

I have been designing for the Canadian market for 28 years. My design career started in the fashion industry, for 10
years I designed ladies wear and children’s wear, and then home décor and gift wear creations for large Canadian
companies, for also10 years. I always made my own fashions and decor creations not because I had too, but
because I loved to. People where always asking me how to make these creations, which inspired me to write, make it
yourself articles. My @Home Decor with Maddy weekly columns where published for a period of 6 years in the
Montreal Gazette, the Toronto Star, the Hamilton Spectator and other newspapers and magazines across Canada.

I’m presently working on a series of Eco Creations educational books and my mother is still right there encouraging
me. She helps with my text translations, and in so many ways and she is still cheering me on. Merci maman, tu m’

I must also say that all my sisters and brother are also very creative, all in different ways. When my mother was
taking sanity breaks from having 5 kids, she would love to read romance novels. My oldest sister has made it her
career, she writes romance novels for Harlequin Books. My mother has also given us all a deep appreciate for
nature and making things and most of all persistence in reaching for our dreams.
