Classic Meets Chic...
The nautical theme has a new look, a pastel appeal, instead of the traditional bold reds and navy
blues, its now has a softer look with shades of fuzzy peach, salty sand and sea breeze turquoise.
Seen in various home and garden accessories from trow pillows, works of decorative art, table
cloths and table top settings. I shot this series at the Montreal Spring Gift Show with permission of

New Twist on the Nautical look...
Shades of Hot pink are everywhere this season. The bolder the better! Its quite delicious when
mixed with dark chocolate and tangerine blast accents with a hint of lime.

Tall grass and single types of flowers in simply bunch arrangements. Orchids are simply fabulous
all year long, but their blossoms are especially beautiful at this time of year ~ enjoy their beauty
display them where they are very visible and part of your family life.

Garden trends are all Zen...
I have been going to the Spring Gift show for years. It seams that each year I see less and less
Canadian made products and suppliers. With this said the Canadian products that I did see I truly
loved such as the purse and bags made with newspaper. They where my winners pick. The
Canadian made line of dips, sauces and make it yourself desserts, where as delicious as their
packaging (even if I'm not big on packaging, these where gorgeous and stunning. I call these
keepers packing because you can transform them into fabulous gift boxes. Grow your own fruit
was a marvelous line of products ideal to give as gifts. I just love those glass chicken because of
their fun colours and unique stripes, mos original!

Inspirations comes from many places. As a designer, one of my favorite things to do is simply go
window shopping...no buying. I like to see the retail trends and then I put my on interpretations
and twist into my creations. Sometimes its a fabric or a colour that will inspire me, or a shape or a
detail. It's never just one thing as a whole, its a combination of bits and pieces of the things I have
seen. It can even be fashion item I saw from a walker by. I always come back from these
excursions most inspired. I always look at it all as a whole, the decorations, the fashions, the
buildings, all of it inspires me in one way or an other. These are some of the items that caught my
creative eye and spirit this season while in Montreal window shopping and at the Montreal Spring
Gift Show which is for trade only ( so you can get an idea of whats up and coming).
